McLean, VA — May 23, 2011 — DGC International was recently awarded a contract by the U.S. Embassy of Kabul, Afghanistan to construct youth sports parks and complexes in Afghanistan.
Under the contract, DGC International and its teaming partners will improve specific sectors of Kabul, Mazar-e-Sharif and Jalalabad by constructing new parks with an emphasis on recreation. The specific park projects will enhance the sports character of different areas of the city, and each park will include a field, basketball courts, volleyball courts and a playground. These projects will provide youth, men and women the opportunity to have a place to play and compete. Additionally, the projects will provide a viable outlet to exercise, play and most of all, interact with one another, building stronger communities and promoting safe, looked after areas where children can grow and thrive.
“This project’s focus on youth and the Afghan people demonstrates the commitment, generosity and the importance of the U.S. Embassy of Afghanistan, an arm of the U.S. Department of State, and the American people, in lending support to such projects,” DGC International’s President Mustafa Zamani explained. DGC International and its partners are proud to help provide a safe and fun alternative to the often–under served youth within Afghanistan.
DGC International is committed to assisting the US Embassy to promote sustainable projects for youth and the people of Afghanistan.
